Jo Robson
Employment Law Solicitor
After studying law in London, I qualified as a Solicitor in 2004. I am a specialist in my chosen field of employment law and, in particular, I have a passion for maternity related employment law. My background has seen me working for top city law firms where I have successfully represented both individuals and businesses. Having acted for both parties, I have the ability and expertise to provide a thorough, impartial and balanced viewpoint in my advice. I set up Babylaw Solicitors in 2008 having had a family of my own and identifying a campaign to assist employees exclusively with maternity related / family friendly difficulties at work. Babylaw has been set up as a niche firm specialising only in maternity related employment law. I have also formed partnerships with a number of maternity providers in a bid to nationalise my campaign to raise awareness of legal rights in the workplace. I also exhibit at the Baby Show which takes place at various venues across the UK.

Its not going to fit and im going to look stupid!
sorry again for posting but just got off the phone with my boss and im fuming! I have to wear a work top to work or everything I wear to show I work for the brand even though I have keys attached to me and a radio and headset :s? Anyways I wpork for river island and our work top sizes are teeny weeny at my last job I could wear a size 8 I had to get a size 12 top from our supplier and even that was tight! So when i started putting on the pregnancy pounds a girl I worked with who's about a 10/12 gave me one of her size 14 tops and even that stupidly tight on my belly! and our stockist doesnt go above a 16! So i called my boss and said basically Im really uncomfortable in these ridiculously small tops and after having injections in my belly, thighs arms and back im tender all over (nurse b@llsed up and caused everywhere to bruise) so i could i just wear something loose , but fashionable , from RI to work tomorrow.. his answer? NO . just really blunt aswel i tried to reason with him but he said well your noway near a 14 anyway so it should fit .. bit it DOESNT! Grrr sorry girls OH doesnt understand but Iv just tried it on and its riding up over my belly and is really tight on my back where my bruises on. RANT OVER

Internal vacancy at work- any point applying at 16 wk preg?
There is a head office vacancy available at work and I am so tempted to apply as working out in the community is getting me down. Every day I work I am dealing with obscenities, rude remarks or just plain nastyness. I am such a timid person I take it all to heart when I know I shouldnt. this vacancy is mainly admin, interviewing people etc, so I am thinking if I go for it and get it, I could work longer and go back to work quicker after baby as there will be no major physical work involved? it will also be reasonable hours 8-6pm about and no more naff pay! Is there any point? I need to tell work I am preg but do I do so after applying? I have a 1-1 meeting Monday to discuss any queries I am thinking maybe airing everything out then? I.e thinking of leaving, really stressed, pregnant, admin job would be ideal?! Advice?xxxxxx

Obligated to return to same job?
Hiya,
I will be off on ML starting May, and am being paid SMP from my employer.
Do I have to return to this job? I know that financially it won't be worth it, as I only earn 900 pcm and as OH earns 35k I don't think we'll be entitled to help with childcare costs?
Also, if i do go back to work, I'd only like to work 2/3 days per week anyway.
Thanks ladies x

Paternity Leave..
My husband started working for his employer back in March last yr, the same time I fell pregnant with our 2nd child. Because of this his employer said he wasn't entitled to the 2 weeks paid paternity leave when I had the baby as he hadn't been working there long enough to qualify for it which is fair enough. So when baby arrived my hubby took 2 weeks off unpaid to be with us, he claimed NOTHING for these 2 weeks what-so-ever. Well I fell pregnant again in January this yr & Im due in 5 weeks time but now my husbands employer is saying he isn't allowed to have the 2 weeks paid paternity leave as he has already taken it last yr & you can only take it once in his whole employment. So now my hubby has agreed to just have 1 week off (again unpaid) as there is another worker who's baby is due 4 weeks after me & he is worried they will end up being off at the same time. Apparently this other worker is having unpaid time off when his baby arrives aswell but I know he has been working for the firm many years & also this is his 1st baby. Its confused & annoyed me so Im really hoping someone can help me out because as far as Im concerned my hubby IS entitled to the 2 weeks paid paternity leave as he hasn't taken it before, am I right???
