Newborn_baby_sleeping.gifCongratulations on your new arrival

The seemingly endless journey of pregnancy is finally over and you are now proud parents to a tiny newborn baby. Here, the fun starts! Your range of emotions will go from euphoric and amazement, to tears and anxiety and you’ll find yourself staring at your newborn in wonderment at just how fragile yet beautiful she is. If you can’t quite believe how much you love your baby or you can’t quite believe how sleep deprived you feel already, welcome to the early days of parenthood.

One of the joys of parenthood is learning how to protect and care for your baby while introducing her to her new world. Here are our helpful newborn tips to help you through those first few weeks…

Surviving on three hours sleep?
The average adult needs somewhere between seven to nine hours sleep a night, so it’s no wonder you find yourself putting the kettle in the fridge or salt in your tea when you are surviving on just three hours! Small babies have even smaller tummies and can’t take in large quantities of milk, so they feed little and often, including through the night. As your baby grows she will be able to take in more milk and sleep for longer, which should be music to your ears. Luckily newborn babies grow rapidly and start to distinguish the differences between night and day, sleepy time and awake time. In the early days it is best to try to sleep when your baby sleeps in the day, to prepare you for the night ahead. A tired and emotional mummy is no good to anyone!

Baby-sick on your shoulder?
New-mum style generally consists of: your comfiest clothes possible, teamed with a smudge of make-up (applied with your newborn asleep over your shoulder) and a liberal splashing of baby sick on one or both of your shoulders! This is a perfectly acceptable ‘uniform’ for all new mums so don’t put too much pressure on yourself to look perfect or be a super woman. The most important thing for you to do at this stage is to spend time getting to know your baby, cuddling, relaxing and recovering from the birth.

Huggies_Newborn_Pack.jpgWorrying about what’s best for your baby?
Worrying about your baby is completely normal, that’s your job as a mum! But you may also worry about which products should be used against your baby’s delicate skin. Luckily Huggies® have created their softest ever nappy, offering more comfort to your little one, who is used to the soft padding of your womb. Huggies Newborn nappies are uniquely cushioned with a soft quilted inner-layer so your baby is wrapped in the next softest thing to being in your arms.  This means you can spend more time cuddling your baby, safe in the knowledge that she is comfortable and dry.

Falling in love with your newborn?
Sooner or later, the surge of love you feel for your newborn will hit you; for some womenHuggies_Pure_Pack.jpg it happens instantly and for others it takes time, but when it does happen, you know about it! Spending time with your newborn will help to reinforce your love and bond with her, even if it is changing endless nappies! With such a perfect little newborn, you won’t want to expose her to anything that might harm her fragile skin. Huggies Pure wipes provide gentle cleaning like cotton wool and water. The absence of alcohol, perfume and being pH balanced makes them perfect for even the most sensitive skin. And with the British Skin Foundation validating Huggies research into healthy skin you can rest assured that you’re doing what’s best for your baby.
