Is it dangerous to have babies close together?
There’s never a ‘right time’ to have a second baby, and although there’s slightly more risk of preterm birth if you fall pregnant within six months, the risk is very small.
Most moms would agree that apart from being twice as much work, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t have your babies close together. You’ll have just had a baby, so everything will be fresh in your memory and you can double up on baby gear. Some parents like to have their babies in quick succession so they can deal with diapers, tantrums and sleepless nights in one go! Babies born close together will also benefit from having a sibling close in age.
Reasons to wait are so your body has time to heal properly (especially after a cesarean birth) and to be able to give your attention to one baby at a time. You might also want to go back to work for a decent stretch of time before you announce you’re pregnant again, and financially it’s probably better to spread the costs of your children over a few years. Whenever you decide to have another baby, you’ll probably know within yourself that the time is right.

Hiya everyone. My 1st baby was 6months before i fell pregnant with my second. Im still breasfeeding my baby and hes 11 half months old, in 11 weeks time my 2nd baby is due. Im no going to finish breastfeeding Liam until hes had enough. Im also worried aboutgoing into labour i havent left him for even a second since he was born, so to leave him while im in labour is going to be so difficult. any positives about having a home birth?

In regards to the question :
"Can anyone tell me what happens if you're still breast feeding the first child when a second comes along?"
To the best of my knowledge it is perfectly fine to continue breastfeeding whilst pregnant AS LONG AS...
1)you have a normal pregnancy
2)you are healthy
3)you are eating right and eating enough
Obstetricians recommend that a pregnant woman need 200 calories extra a day for her growing baby. Breastfeeding women need 600 calories extra a day for making milk! So if you do wish to continue breastfeeding you need to ensure you are getting enough calories from nutritous sources to keep up with your body's demands.
Can anyone tell me what happens if you're still breast feeding the first child when a second comes along? I am very keen to breast feed for as long as possible but the complications of having two different babies feeding at the same time causes me some concern.
I'm not pregnant at the moment (I don't think) but if it were to happen I'm just curious. My daughter is 25 weeks old (and has two bottom teeth that thankfully she does NOT try to bite me with when feeding!!!)
