What can I tell my midwife?
At
your prenatal checkups, you should bring up any problems, worries or concerns
that you may have about any aspect of your pregnancy experience.
You
should tell your caregiver, for example, about any drugs or medication you’ve taken and about any alcohol you’ve consumed prior to and
after conception. They’re there to advise and
reassure you about any fears you have, so it’s important that you give them all
the information they need to offer the best advice and support they can. If you
feel depressed or worried, say so – your caregiver can refer you to counselors
if necessary.
Ask
your caregiver anything you want to, no matter how silly it may seem to you.
They’re a wealth of information and can help to answer any of your questions
about pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period.
They’re not there to judge you and won’t be shocked or offended by what you
tell them in confidence – they’ve likely seen and heard it all before.
What’s
the most embarrassing thing you had to tell your OB-GYN or nurse-midwife? Why
not tell us in our chat forum?
