Packing your change bag

Packing your change bag

A day out with your baby can sometimes be a little daunting, but you can help take some of the stress out of it by being prepared for all eventualities with a well-stocked diaper bag.

Here’s a list of items you might want to take:

• Diapers – plan for one diaper change an hour for new babies.

• Diaper disposal bags.

• Lightweight fold-up changing mat.
• Diaper rash cream.

• Wipes or cotton wool pads for new babies.

• Pacifier.

• Change of clothes for baby and even a spare tee for yourself, in case of spills and spit-up.

• Bottle of cooled boiled water for hot days.

• Measured doses of formula powder, or ready-made formula in cartons, plus sterilized bottles if you’re bottlefeeding.

• Breast pads if you’re breastfeeding.

• Jarred food (don’t forget the spoon!) and finger food for weaned babies.

• Waterproof bib.

• Teething ring/lightweight toy which clips to stroller.

• Sunscreen and sunhat for sunny days.
