Due date calculator

Due date calculator

Are you desperate to know when your due date might be? The average pregnancy is dated from the first day of your last menstrual period and typically lasts for 280 days, or 40 weeks.

Your OB-GYN or nurse-midwife uses this as a guide to work out your due date – but no one tells your baby! The fact is most babies don’t arrive on their due dates (babies are never predictable): in fact the chances of this happening are only around five percent. Most women give birth somewhere around two weeks before and two weeks after their due date, so once you know your dates, pack your labor bag.

Your due date is worked out by calculating the first day of your last monthly period and by how long your cycle usually lasts. If you don’t know this, your OB-GYN will use your baby’s measurements, taken by ultrasound, to estimate your due date.
