Month thirty-three
Children love to solve problems
and it’s one way in which they learn new skills. For you, resisting the urge to
jump in and solve the problem is the key.
If your child has run out of blocks
for her tower and is getting frustrated, suggest that she needs to find
something else the same shape as the blocks to complete the tower. This will
give her a new challenge (shape sorting and finding) and enable her to complete
the tower without help. Read our article on how to encourage an enquiring mind for more tips.
Relatives
Parents are still the most
important things in your child’s life, but this month you will notice your
toddler enjoying the company of other adults, particularly grandparents and
aunts and uncles. Your child’s relatives will all bring different aspects to
your child’s life (think back to when you were small and who your favorite
relative was). Let your child spend some time with family members while you are
in the next room, so you are there if she needs you, but she can get to know
her grandparents on her own for instance.
Night-time potty training
This month your child will
probably be somewhere close to being able to control her bladder and bowels
during the day, but at night there will still be a few accidents and this is to
be expected. Many parents think that potty-training their child will be a quick
process but actually it can take weeks, even months, to successfully train your
child. Don’t despair if your child keeps having night-time accidents – read our
guide to potty-training for step-by step advice on how to potty-train for nights.
