Over-heating during pregnancy

Over-heating during pregnancy

It is not good to overheat when you are pregnant, as your baby will find it difficult to cool down too. Your baby has no sweating mechanism to lose heat and can only do so through its mother, so, for the safety and development of your child, you must take care when exercising or bathing not to overheat. Make sure you drink lots of water when exercising and do not have very hot baths.

For the same reason, saunas, steam rooms and jacuzzis are not sensible environments to put yourself in and not recommended during pregnancy. Your baby will find it extremely difficult to cope with the temperature levels, even if you feel fine.

Make sure you wear cool, loose-fitting cotton clothes during the summer months to guard against overheating and ensure your home is well-ventilated. A good investment may be a fan. Similarly, in the winter make sure your central heating isn’t turned up too high. Always make sure you are properly hydrated with water, rather than tea or coffee, which has an opposite effect.

I have found twice now when i have been in mass i get over heated and feel like i am going to faint. They have big fans at the front but i never seem to get any air to myself. I thought i would try sitting at the back near the door but found it no better.
