Nicole Kidman's anguished miscarriage

Nicole Kidman has revealed for the first time that she sufffered from a miscarriage a few months after marrying Ex-husband Tom cruise.

Kidman kept her miscarriage secret at the time, only revealing it later once her divorce from Cruise was announced.

Nicole was in her early twenties when she lost the baby and told Vanity Fair in a recent interview: "From the minute Tom and I were married we wanted to have babies and we lost a baby early on so that was really very traumatic."

In the interview, Nicole also admits that the miscarriage and trauma of experiencing it led to their decision to adopt two children, Isabella, now 14 and Connor who is 12. Nicole admitted: "That's when it came that we would adopt Bella. There's a complicated background to that. One day maybe that story will be told."

Nicole also revealed she still hopes to have a baby with new husband Keith Urban. She said: "I'm yearning to have one. I think I would be very sad if I wasn't able to have a baby. Keith knows I want one and he has been getting there slowly."

The star admitted that Urban's stint in rehab for drink and drug addiction four months after their wedding has been traumatic. She added: "We were in a very very very bad painful place."
