UK Primary class sizes are biggest yet
A report has shown that UK primary school classes are the biggest in the world.
Only Japan, Korea, Turkey, Brazil, Chile and Israel have more pupils per class then the UK's average 25.8.
Worryingly, this is at a time when the government are spending an above average amount of money per student compared with 29 other developed nations. Britain spends the most on children at pre-school level, investing £4,903 per child in the early years.
The figures for secondary school class sizes are smaller then average compared with other nations. The study, carried out by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation (OECD) also found that the proportion of pupils achieving good secondary education in the UK has gone up slightly over 30 years.
