Meet the Gurgle Girls – our mummy blogging advocates
So we picked our favourite ten mummy bloggers and asked them if they’d like to be Gurgle blog advocates – reviewing products, events, and talking about lovely gurgle, and then telling you guys all about it! These super bloggers would become our “Gurgle Girls”: a crack team of mummy’s on a mission to tell it like it is.
So now you know what the Gurgle Girls are all about, let’s meet them:
Twosp: www.teawithonesugarplease.blogspot.com
Teawithonesugarplease started in September 2008 but I didn’t start regular blogging until September 2009 whilst on maternity leave after having twin boys Thing 1 and Thing 2, born 9 weeks early in April. In addition to the family is older daughter ‘Curly Haired Beauty’, who was such a little lady as a baby and has now turned into a little madam. She is very much a product of her mother’s passion for fashion.
Now back at the office on a part-time basis working for a media company based in W1. Making the most of the super sample sales held in town, as I do love a bargain. Having 3 babies in the last four years probably wasn’t a wise move, I was pregnant in total for 17 months! But who plans on having twins? Everyone we know stop after two kids.....it’s like herding cats in our household. Married to D for over eight years and we’ll be together for another eighty.
Emily: http://babyrambles.blogspot.com/
I'm a work at home freelance writer with two sons aged 4 and 2 and a baby daughter. I started blogging because I found writing about the highs and lows of parenthood helped get me through it. And some days seemed so difficult that I needed to remind myself how rewarding being a parent could be! Before having children I worked in finance but it was something I didn't want to go back to. I've managed to find work which I can fit around looking after children which works well but does make life very busy. I really enjoy being part of the parent blogging community and the opportunities it's opened up for me.
Hazel: http://hotcrossmum.blogspot.com/
I am a stay at home Mum and freelance writer based in Ireland. My blog 'Hot Cross Mum' offers an honest, frank and (hopefully) humorous insight into the domestic rollercoaster of life at home with two young boys. It's not always pretty - but I tell it like it is anyway! ‘Hot Cross Mum’ was listed in the Independent Top 50 Parenting Websites and Blogs in October 2009 and has been ranked in the UKs Top 100 Parenting Blogs index since September 2009. I was delighted to be voted winner of the Funny Mummy Blogger category in the Gurgle blog awards earlier this year. My sense of humour seems to have failed me ever since!
When I'm not blogging, chasing around after the boys or avoiding the ironing, I write a weekly column for a regional Irish newspaper and also write feature articles for the national press and parenting magazines. I am writing my first novel which is set in Venice - pure escapism at the end of another hectic day.
Erin: www.jollyoldengland.blogspot.com
Originally from The Bahamas, Erin moved to New York City after university. She was in NY until her Kiwi husband was permanently transferred to London in February 2010. Erin was a New York City book editor for 17 years before she decided to become a literary agent. Now she’s with NY Firm Folio Literary Management working from home in London.
She started ‘Cross the Pond in September 2009 to chronicle her pregnancy and then the move from NY to London with two small children. Her children are Claire, aged 3 and Xavier, aged 9 months. The blog is all about their adventures in London, wading their way through the school systems, child minders, sleep deprivation, feeding, weaning, potty training, shedding baby weight, and all the joys of parenting plus a little more.
Pippa: http://www.amothersramblings.com/
A Mothers Ramblings is the story of an ordinary family that like to have fun. They don't mean to be funny, but quite often they find themselves having conversations that you have to laugh at or in situations that wouldn't be out of place in a British sitcom.
The blog is written by PippaD as she is known on Twitter, and is cook, cleaner, gardener and anything else that needs to be done (apart from putting the bins out) and the boss of the household. If she isn't out on a Family Fun Day, then she is at home playing and trying to make everyday fun or watching Neighbours...
Daddy is the head of the household and occasionally on Twitter with pictures of what the family are up to, or something funny he saw. Top Ender is Six (And a half Gurgle readers!) years old and always looking for fun. Her biggest ambition is to own a sweet shop, whilst holding down a full time career as a Fashion Designer/Model. Baby Boy is two and likes everything. He really wants to be a bit bigger so he can reach the higher shelves in the fridge where the yogurts are kept.
Leanne: http://secondtimemummy.blogspot.com/
Leanne is a fashion addict and a mum of two; son Alex is three, and daughter Ellissia Grace was born just last week! Leanne started her blog in December 2009 at the beginning of her second pregnancy, where she shares tales of motherhood and the truth about pregnancy. She also shares maternity wear tips, and is definitely a yummy mummy!
Leanne was voted winner of the Mummy Fashion Blogger category in the Gurgle blog awards earlier this year.
Laura: http://www.arewenearlythereyetmummy.com/
I’m trying not to lose my marbles. I am aware that I have already mislaid some of them … one is stuck under the sofa, one in the Lego box and the 4 year old may have inadvertently swallowed the other. My blog charts my journey through motherhood, the longest journey I’ve ever taken.
We live in West Yorkshire and are a family of four during the week, and five at the weekend. I work part-time (school hours) and spend the rest of my time chasing after my children. I forget how old I am all the time so I’ll just say I’m in my early 30’s, the six year old tells me I’m 50.
Holly: http://www.itsamummyslife.com
I'm a working mum with two beautiful girls; the toddler and the baby, I'm married to him indoors (or Mr Mummy's Life). I work pretty much full time and actually love it most of the time. Life can get on top of me from time to time, but I find my blog a rather cathartic way of keeping my perspective on it all.
Peggy: http://perfectlyhappymum.com/
I am a mummy and blogger, and the ones who wipes the snots and changes the nappies all day long until Happy Dad comes home. Then I happily hand over the lot. In between the laundry pile, the mouths to feed and the hoover, I also run a business.
I am a coach for mothers because I take it to heart to help mothers to enjoy motherhood rather than enduring it. After all we are in it for a while so let’s make the most of it! I love listening and helping and been told I was good at it, so Perfectly Happy, Coaching for Mum was born!
I am French and addicted to chocolate mousse. I have waves of OCD and when this happens I cannot bear seeing stuff lying around and would happily pack away in a cupboard everything including the children and the dog.
Jen: http://themadhouse-themadhouse.blogspot.com/
I am a 36 year old mother of two delicious boys, Maxi, who was born on 16 March 2005 and Mini, who was born on 24 June a year later. I have been happily married to Mr Mad or MadDad to you for the last 15 years and he is my soul mate, my best friend and my rock (OK soppy stuff over)
I carry a spelling mistake in my BRCA1 gene and underwent an oomperectomy (removal of ovaries and fallopian tubes in July 2008 and a bi-lateral prophylactic mastectomy in February 2009. Unfortunately I had numerous complications after the surgery and was unable to have a reconstruction.
I am currently a stay at home mum, but due to financial constraints I am looking for family friendly work at the moment. I love to write, sew, read, cook and craft with my children, spend time with my family and just generally be a buffoon!
