The 2011 annual ‘Dream Toys’ list from the TRA, the industry’s official predictions of the Christmas best-sellers, has been revealed. And it’s packed full of fantastic toys with a technological twist.  From high-tech tablet computers for kid’s to dolls that double as bedroom lights, and toys that can hold a conversation or that will play in a band with you, children now have the opportunity to interact and engage with their toys more than ever before.

Here are the top ten toys for this Christmas:

Fijit Friends, Mattel, RRP £54.99
Fireman Sam Pontypandy Rescue Set, Character, RRP £29.99
Kidizoom Twist, Vtech, RRP £49.99

Star Wars Ultimate Force Tech Lightsaber Assortment, Hasbro, RRP £39.99

As well as revealing the industries favourite toys, this year for the first time, mums and kids we’re given a selection of toys to test so that they could chose their favourites as well!  Gurgle.com editor, Nifa McLaughlin, helped judged the Mum’s Choice Awards, and the panel  chose the Imaginext Batcave, Mattel RRP £49.99 and the Kidizoom Twist, Vtech, RRP £49.99 as their two top toys.

Nifa says: “As mums we were looking for a combination of things from the winning toys. Firstly that our kids were excited about the toy and loved playing with it, but also that the toy lived up to expectations, was quick and easy to get started with and would hold the interest of a lively toddler for more than five minutes! All the toys were fantastic but we found the girls especially loved the Kidizoom Twist and the boys couldn’t get enough of the Imaginext Batcave.”

What will you be getting your little ones for Christmas this year? Are any of the toys listed on their lists for Santa? We’d love to hear your thoughts!

I agree Lucy, bricks and building blocks are great ideas for little ones! Some of the toys on the top ten list sounded too much like 'the latest craze'. such as the tree hosue with the figures, can't remember the name of the figures - but I know my little sis had a tree hosue similar tot hat back in our day ( early 80's), and it's the little figures, whatever brand of logo they are, that capture kiddies imaginations!! My two year old loves playing with her older sister's littlest petshop figures and play houses!!

My sons LOVE the imaginext stuff and it is sooo well made and sturdy. We have the fire station and engine and the space stuff and it's great as you can build the collection over a few birthdays at reasonable cost from Amazon. But I think for younger children you can't beat basic toys like a wooden brick trolly or a basic shape sorter-babies and toddlers don't need loads of stuff with batteries!
