The gurgle back-to-school check list

Getting your little ones ready to go back to school can be a mammoth task, with so much to do and think about. Taking your children shopping for their school supplies is always a stressful experience, and the only way to get through it without tearing out your hair is to be organised.

Which is why we’ve written the gurgle back-to-school checklist. Some children won’t need everything on this list, but it’s a good place to start when you’re getting your little ones ready for the big day:

The must-haves:
-School uniform. If your little ones school requires a uniform, they will provide you with a list of what you need. If there is no uniform, it’s still a good idea to buy some cheap hard-wearing clothes for your little one to wear to school. Sturdy black school shoes with good grip are also an essential.

-PE kit. Again if the school has a uniform for this, they should provide a list. If not, opt for simple white shorts, a white T shirt, and trainers with minimal branding.

-The school supplies. This should includes: a pencil case, writing pens, pencils, ruler, rubber and colouring crayons. Check with the school if you will need to provide notebooks and writing paper too.

-A backpack. Your little one will probably enjoy choosing this themselves. Just make sure the back straps are wide and padded, and that the bag is big enough to hold their books, pencil case, and lunch box if needed.

The nice to-haves:
-A wall planner. This will be just as important for you as it will be for your little one. Use it to make a note of which day your child will need PE kit, homework, and any after school activities. Being organised will stop any panic as you’re leaving the house.

-The reading eggs programme. Give your child a head start with their reading by helping them at home, using this online tool that actually makes reading fun!

-A lunchbox and water bottle. Even if your little one is eating lunch at school, a small lunch box is a great way for them to hold their healthy snacks. And it has been shown that children concentrate better if they’re hydrated, so a water bottle is a must!

Have we missed anything else? What essentials will you be sending your little ones off with when they go to school?

I've never come across an infant school that expects children to supply their own pencils etc-though some like to bring them in, as a teacher they are just a nusiance as they get muddled with other children's and cause fights and problems lol!

Most infant schools like the children to have black plimsolls/pumps for PE but I am sure everyone has had their lists for uniform etc by now!
A lot of schools supply a book bag-these have more than enough room for letters reading books etc-cloakrooms in schools have very limited space!
