Looking for the ring? Top tips to help him get the hint!
You’ve got the baby or you’re trying to conceive, so you know he’s committed to you. If you’re ready to take the next step and you’re looking for that special ring to slip onto your finger this Valentine’s Day then here are our top tips to help him get the hint:
1. Point out the ring
Every time you walk past your favourite jewellery shop, slow your pace a little and point out some of your favourite rings. This will show your significant other that this is something you’ve thought about and ready for. If your little one means you don’t get out together much then leave your magazines open on pages with ring advertisements: he’ll soon get the idea!
2. Marriage is all around us
If any of your friends, family members, or work colleagues are married or newly engaged then make sure you point this out to your other half. Knowing that so many people around you are happily married or engaged may get him thinking. Especially if those people are at the same point of their lives as you.
3. One big happy family
If your little one has taken your other half’s name, which is probably different to yours, you could try pointing out how lovely it would be if you all had the same name: bound to get him thinking about marriage and commitment!
4. Weddings on the brain
Ask him lots of questions about how he envisages his future wedding will be. Questions like “who would you choose to be your best man?” and “What would you do for your stag do?” make great conversation topics. This will help you gauge his reaction to the topic of marriage without having to ask overtly, whilst letting him know it’s something you’re ready to talk about.
5. Do it yourself
If he still isn’t getting the hint, you could always propose to him! This is more common than you think, especially when the couple already have a baby together. This is only an option if you’re pretty sure he would say yes though: the heartbreak of a rejection would damage any relationship!
