Hi all, we are also going down this route, we saw our GP this week who has referred us for treatment at the local Spire clinic, we have an appointment for next week 23/9. We hope the operation wont be too long afterwards. I will post our progress
Hi, We are off the Spire (in Bristol) on Wed. Any comments on the hospital or experience?
Any advice? x
Hubby and I went to see a consultant on Tuesday (22/09) about a rversal and was told that it wasn`t done on the nhs, so needless to say that both of us are extremely down-hearted and very disappointed.
The consultant did inform us that the operation was available if we went private but theres no way we can afford, so looks like no more babies for us!
Blimey things have definatly gone really quick for us. We saw the doctor on the 15th, we got referred for the 23rd and my husband had the operation today 30th. We have to do the tests etc in December make sur eits a success, we have been told we have 95% chance of having Sperm present and 70% chance of pregnancy. Let u all know as soon as we have news

Hi, my hubby had a reversal 10 years ago and we now want to expand our brood so he is going to see his GP for some advice etc, but I have read that our ages maybe against us, has anyone else faced this problem? Many thanks x
Hi. You need to check your BMI - NHS direct website will tell you how to do this. Basically it varies from IVF clinic to IVF clinic, some will accept you for IVF if your BMI is below 35, others it has to be below 30 - check with yours! The NHS guidelines says that you have to be below 30 for IVF treatment on the NHS - i don't know if anyone has been lucky enough to have treatment when they've been over 35 - answers on a postcard please!!! Good luck xx
Thanks, but luckily they sent me a chart with some of my ivf forms and was well within the guidelines. Have to wait about another 10 days before I can ring the hosp and arrange a scan and blood tests. xc
Nobody has mentioned weight to me yet on my hosp visits and i'm hoping that means i'm ok. The only thing is that i'm only 5ft and have put a bit of weight on recently. Does anybody know what they take the weight from and where I can check mine against. Scary thought, it means I have to get on the scales. xc

Hi, my husband had his vasectomy reversed April 2008 after 2 years. The first and second sperm counts following reversal told us that the count was very low and the consultant told us it would be very unlikely that we would conceive naturally. Of course we're still trying, but it's now been a year! We are going to go down the IVF route, but as i'm overweight they won't accept us yet. Sometimes it feels like the world conspires against you, but you have to stay positive. Good luck everyone. Katx
