I currently have two boys who will be almost 3 and almost 5 when baby number 3 arrives. My mum has kindly offered to buy me a car seat for xmas and says she doesn't mind which child it is for. I was wondering if any of you manage to fit 3 car seats comfortably in the back of a ford focus estate or similar. Will probably need 1 high back booster, 1 booster with 5 point harness and one seat suitable from birth, currently have a Britax 1st class and britax evolva 123. Thanks in advance, Lucy x
I'm not due til June, but Mum wants to buy as xmas pressie, so thinking about it now!
I don't think I can get airbag deactivated as I've checked the car handbook and it says nothing about it, also I was told that it can affect your insurance coverage. I've managed to squeeze my 2 in with a newborn carseat before, but only for short journey with my nephew, and it took a lot of fiddling about! I would rather get a stage 0 + 1 seat as my boys grew out of their 1st car seats really quickly, seems a bit pointless spending nearly as much on a seat that will only last 4 months rather than 4 years! Will give Britax a ring and see if hey can help me, thanks for all your tips! Lucy x
oh god im glad youve asked that, ive not even thought about car seat issues. im expecting my third baby. my older 2 are in high seat boosters. hmmm thinking cap on!!lol
my friend has a ford focus and she has a 5 year old in a high back booster and her 3 year old in a harness seat and a 2 year old in a 5 point harness seat too ... not sure what make they are though sorry x
Hi there, i am in the same situation as you. My daughter is five, and sits in a high backed booster. My son is three and has the britax evolva 123 also. With number three on the way, car seats has very much been an issue to us.
The best bit of advise i was given was to phone the britax help line, they are really helpful, and can tell you what seats fit together in many types of car. All they need is the hights and weights (roughly) of the kids.
Unfortunatly for us, my wee yaris is just too small, number three is gonna be in the front.
Good luck
I doubt you would get 3 in the back however when you look at newborn baby carriers on website it highlights where you can place them and the normal results are back left and back right and front passenger (with cars without air bags or that can turn passenger airbags off) - I think this would be your only option but not very good if your partner wishes to ride in the car with you (they would have to sqaush inbetween 2 booster seats in the back)
This is only my opinion tho - like babybaby1001 says it would be good to go ask the experts ;-)
Good Luck.
we have a rear facing baby seat for our 9.5 month old and a few weeks ago my sister came to visit with her 9 and 7 year old children who both need booster seats. Sorry they didnt all fit into the back of our Mazda 3.
Best thing to do is go to a Mothercare store, the staff will be only too helpfull to test some seats in your car. Good luck with the new arrival, whens your due date?
