Hey, I have just started feedind my 4 month old son baby food. he has an 8oz bottle in the morning, then half a jar, then an 8oz bottle, followed by half a jar and an 8oz bottle followed by a 12oz bottle. the ammount of milk hes taking is the same as before and he chucks the weight on. is it ok for him to be having this much milk with food?? And how much food should he eat???
Sounds like he's having plenty. My 1 year old doesn't eat that well!! I would talk to your HV for advice before cutting down on milk. He might just be a hungry baby x
At 4 months he should just be getting one spoon feed a day for the first month, then at five months introduce 2, he should only be having fruit and veg purees no real meat based ones. Only at six months should he have 3 spoon feeds and 3 bottles.
Government guidelines recommend breastfeeding with no solids till 6months although my HV assured me that it was ok to start early, i did with my 1st not so keen with my second to do this.
I would have a chat to your HV about how much he is getting just for reassurance
