Bleed at 16 weeks

I had a bleed last night, there was quite a bit of red blood on the tissue and a bit in the water, I went straight to A&E and was referred to the epu/gynae dept and had an internal. She said the neck of my womb was closed and there was no blood there and said she was happy to discharge me. I've got an appointment with the consultant on weds, however should I also speak to a midwife aswell or should I just trust what the doctor said last night and assume things are ok? They don't scan over the weekend and I guess that's the only way we'd know for sure that everything was ok. I'm so confused :-( has anyone else had this? Xx

I am guessing you are still very early on in your pregnancy <20 weeks. If so then the plan of care that you have is fine. If your consultant feels that a scan is necessary then arrangements will be made then for you to have one. Bleeding in later pregnancy is normally observed in hospital and a scan done again only if necessary. Sometimes there is no explanation for bleeding in pregnancy even a scan can sometimes not give us any answers, but you should put all your questions concerns to your consultant on Wednesday.

how strange where i live you see a midwife a midwife at 12 weeks then 16 weeks and every mth till you get to 38 weeks then its weekly, just try resting then and if it goes red again or you start gettting pain go straight in and dont take ne crap from them lol :)

apparently I can't see the midwife until after my second scan which is in jan! I've spoken to the hospital and they said the gynae wouldn't have discharged me if she wasn't happy with the internal, or would have at least booked me on for another scan. They said the fact it stopped last night and has turned to brown instead of red is a positive sign and also that I haven't had any severe pain. I've worked out that today would have been the day I was due on, and last month I had a brown spotting and I've had a scan since then. Maybe it's going to be a monthly thing!

u r joking! i would ring midwife asap and explain what happened say you are worried and could she come round, i mean if the neck of womb is closed its a good sign but i mean your gonna go mad waiting till wednesday i would ring her, have you felt the baby kick yet?
yeah I'll give her a ring. No not felt baby kick yet, I was only 16 weeks on Saturday, that's a bit early isn't it?
