It sounds like mastitus or ablocked duct. The only way to resolve it is to get him to feed from it. It might be too full for him to latch on. So the best thing to do it is to put a warm fannel on it then express some of your milk off so that he can get a better latch. Then feed him. Now that he is reducing the amount of feeds it may just take you body a few days to get used to the reduction in feeding, if you keep expressing it off then your body will keep producing more milk. So it should sort itself out. Fingers crossed it gets better for you. x
At last he finally latched on and fed......the pain has finally gone. Thank you all for your advice. I just hope it doesn't happen again. I ended up squeezing out most of the milk out whilst in the shower. Thanks again xxx
I've been breastfeeding my son now for 9 months and just recently my right breast has been getting very full and painful. My little one has been cutting his feeds down to 2 or 3 a day, so have had to empty myself quite a bit. Just recently he has refused to feed from my right breast, going to the other one instead. Because of this, it's become even bigger and more painful. There is a bit of relief when I empty it...but not much. Could this be light mastitis or just too much milk!!! Please help as do not know anyone else who breast feeds!!!!
I had mastitis while feeding my little boy. The pain is horrible! I ended up buying gel pads that you heat in boiled water. I used to put them on about 20 mins before I breastfed or expressed and they where a great help. I shouldn't last much longer your body takes a few days to slow the milk production x
