My husband and I tried for 18 months with no success. We were referred to our hospital where they discovered that I had PCOS in both ovaries. Following tablet treatment to stimulate my reproductive system it did start to work but I had to come off the tablets as they can only be used for a limited amount of time. Fertility treatment was our only option. Following one unsuccessful round of IUI we had our first round of IVF in December 2007 and we are now parents to twin boys' born in August. I would suggest you get referred for investigation to see whether there is a problem. Sometimes there isn't an obvious reason why things aren't happening. I wish you good luck.

My husband and I took 4 and a half years to get pregnant with our lovely son and it was so hard seeing everyone else around me get pregnant at least once while we tried. We had all the medical investigations after a year which came back all clear. From that point on we kept trying and I used ovulation sticks from ebay to track my ovulation. We also went to see a nutritionist who geave our diet an overhaul. It was then I got pregnant. I can't put my conception down to any one factor but we tried to do everything we could to maximise our chances but without becoming obsessed too - easier said than done!! We reduced the stress levels in our lives, we ate properly and balanced our diet. People prayed for us. We monitored my ovulation but tried not to make sex a chore - we took nice a nice holiday! It is only natural to get down about this but don't give up. Do get checked at the doctors - there is so much they can do IF there is a problem. If there isn't a problem, it will set your mind at rest.

Hi ya, I recently went to the doctor as Ive been trying for a year with nothing, my g.p. suggested that because i already have a child with my partner and because of my age they would not investigate untill it been 2 years of trying, saying that he sent me for a prostegene blood test today. Its always worth a trip to see your doctor if your worried. Good luck!

Me and my hb have been trying for a baby for about 18 months too without much success. We have recently been to see the GP and have an appointment next week following an ultra sound scan i had last week which suggests i may have pcos. I am hoping to god that there is someway we can still conceive naturally as we are so desperate for a baby too and i like you feel that everyone around me is falling pregnant. Hang in there i am sure it will happen for us eventually. Has your partner tried taking vitamins- supposed to be good for the sperm, zinc, vit b12 d and e.?

I think your next step is going to see your doc and getting refered to a specialist. their are some herbal remedies and accupuncture can help too. keep us posted and we'll answer any questions if we can. good luck
