my little girl is 15 months and has started to get a bit constipated in the last week. she will stand and strain for ages and hardly anything comes out and it is very bird pellety and smells more than usual. reminds me of a battery hen bless her (sorry bout the detail btw!). her diet isn't particulary varied as she's got quite fussy lately but she still loves weetabix, baked beans and some fruit and veggies like bananas, carrots, tomatoes and kiwi fruit. she's got 2 back teeth coming through so don't know if that's got anything to do with it? I feel so sorry for her x x
Kiwi's normally go through them really quickly, i know if my lo has them he is pooing for days with them thats why i hate him eating them cause he gets really runny poos witht he kiwi seeds through them which are a knightmare to clean ( sorry to be so crude) . So go with the kiwi. Good luck
My daughter suffered from constipation from birth, whoch we now know was either due to allergy or slow bowels. She always used to get constipated again when she was teething...always! You could set your watch by it, red cheeks, bad skin, reflux and constipation, new tooth!!! Try giving her some diluted prune or apple juice, if you don't get any joy with this try and put some prunes in with her weetabix, not loads, just a couple cut up and mixed in, still no joy then go for something like a teaspoon of treacle or maple syrup in her weetabix, the sugar acts as a laxative so don't put too much! hope she feels betta soon xx
lily has had this problem before but usually it sorted itself out after a few days with help from extra weetabix and plenty to drink. she usually gets diorrhea (can't spell lol) when she's got a new tooth maybe it just coz it a back tooth? can't help thinking her daddy hasn't been entirely honest with what he's told he's fed her while I've been at work this past week. think she's probably had way to many chocolate biccies. thanks for the suggestions both of you x x
Be careful with ashton powders, give it a go by all means but be cautious. Only becoz I gave them to my daughter after a friend of mine used them, within a week she had an awfully sore mouth which ended up leading to a gum infection! poor baby! xx

Have you tried a little bit of fresh orange juice? perhaps slightly diluted? this sometimes helps to get them going again. If she won't drink it, just keep going with the weetabix and stuff and try to get her to drink more water or squash, basically any kind of fluids. It could be teething related, I found that Ashton and Parsons teething powders often helped with tummy upsets when Emma was teething badly. Also, you could try lying her on her back and moving her legs as if she was riding a bicycle. It sounds odd but the movement will help her bowels get moving again. xx
