16 weeks and feeling movement........?!

Hi, i'm 17 week next wednesday by scan and today by my dates. And for the past week on and off i'v been feeling a fluttering in my lower abdomen. Saw midwife on Wednesday and herd heartbeat and she said i am probably feeling movment as my placenta it posteror and there are more nerve endings on the back of your urerus. Still seems too soon though, is only my 1st has anyone else felt fluttering this early in 1st Pregnancy?

First of all feeling of butterflys or fluttering is really common in early pregnancy and may be due to a number of things - hormonal fluctuations or changes in the blood. It is nothing to worry about. It is unusual to feel movement early on. You are more likely to feel something in the next couple of weeks but I understand these feelings make you feel quite anxious as you have not felt anything like this before but this should pass.

Hi, it definately sounds like movement to me!! I was 16 weeks when i first felt flutters in my belly! I loved it! Its when ur whole belly starts to move and u get a hand or foot sticking outta the side of ur bump that it becomes interesting! Enjoy it xx

with first babies, the 'norm' is to feel your baby kicking from 20 weeks plus. However, each pregnancy is different..each baby lies differently etc etc. I hardly felt my 4th child at all! In fact i didnt feel his first kick till 22 weeks. With this baby (5th), i felt him once or twice at 16+ weeks..then no more till about 19/20 weeks. Now he's none stop and im 22 weeks!
So ladies please dont worry..i know im no expert, but this is my 5th pregnancy so ive a little bit of experience. Each pregnancy is different and if you still havnt felt your baby kick by 24 weeks..ask advice. But babies move from day one, and if your feeling it at 15/16/17 weeks..dont be too suprised, you probably are xxx

With My son i felt movement at 17weeks but only once my friend who had just a baby had told me it was like popping in your tummy or that you have wind.. good luck.. x
