Can we still trust manufacturers to provide safe children's toys?

This year, many products for children have gone into recall. In September, many toys were found to contain excessive lead in their paint. Most recently, 'Bindeez' aquabeads, small beads which can be set together with water and turned into patterns, have been recalled as it's been discovered they have been coated with dangerous chemicals. At least six children have been hospitalised after swallowing the beads. One boy in Australia even lapsed into a coma. This news is obviously very unsettling. What are your thoughts on the subject? Do you think more carefully before you buy toys for children?
