My daughter, Olivia, is 23 weeks old. Since she was around 8 weeks old she has been making shuddering movements. They started off as the usual little shudders that everyone does (when you get that weird feeling down your spine and you'd say "Someone just walked over my grave"). They were every now and again and very cute. Now, they vary in severity. She seems to do it all the time now, sometimes one after the other and she looks like she's uncomfortable and can't control it. It almost looks painful but more like a nervy type of pain and she clenches her fists really tightly. It's beginning to worry us and I just wondered if anyone else has seen the same thing. We are seeing a HV today and possibly a doctor if we get the answer we think we'll get ("oh, she'll grow out of it"!!)

Hiya
The HV said we should just keep an eye on it but she doesn't think it's anything neurological. Olivia did her shudder thing a couple of times while we were in there but they were the mild ones so the HV didn't get to see the bad ones, which did make me feel a bit like a neurotic mother. My partner and I are going to get her checked out by our GP next week anyway just to be on the safe side. I'm sure my first two never did it (although it was quite a while ago!) and it doesn't seem to be just when she's filling her nappy (ones or twos) but at any time at all. She seems to do it more when she's active rather than when she's chilling we've noticed. Will let you know what the GP says. Ros x

Hi Ladies
What did the h/v or doctor say?
My 2 both did this and my moher in law said it was when they have a little wee they shudder. Sounds daft but it did coinside with weeing in there nappy. She used to be a childminder so i took it on board that it was true.My 15 month old still does it now. Hope that's all it is ladies. If anything concerns you no matter how silly you feel asking always get little ones checked out.

My little munchkin is three weeks old and she does that shuddering thing quite alot. My hubby and I wondered if its normal or not as my other 2 didn't do this. I didn't mention it to HV in case she thinks I'm a neurotic worry wort. I'd be very interested to know what your HV or Dr says.

Hi Ros
One of my twin girls has done that but only a few times ( maybe 3 or 4 at most) and its still at the cute stage, it hasn't gotten any worst than a shiver. Although i did mention it to my husband as he wasn't here when she did it because i though it was so unusual. Let me know what the HV says.
