A new report has found that a quarter of women are left by their NHS midwives during childbirth. This is because there aren't enough midwives and there's also a shortage of funding. Lots of women have also complained about their postnatal care, as they feel that the food is not up to standard and that the bathrooms aren't clean enough. What are your thoughts on the subject? Were you pleased with your midwife? Do you have any complaints about your postnatal care?
The midwife and student midwife both left me alone during my labour, even though they knew that something wasn't right. They called the senior anaesthetist but he was "having his lunch" so couldn't come to me straight away..........I had to beg! It was so frightening. The baby and I were both in distress but it didn't seem to matter! I also got minimal help when my baby screamed for most of the night because she couldn't feed properly and was starving (she kept the entire ward awake so eventually they took her away from me to give her a bottle!!) They didn't help me at all with my problms with breastfeeding and one of them made me feel like I was being a pain! My catheter bag was left until it almost burst and I wasn't told that food was available until it was late and even then I couldn't get any myself! I even had to ask for water a number of times. There were, what seemed liked, hundreds of cleaning staff though!!
