Swollen and feeling tender at the same time...

Just doing a bit of research on the web and wanted to know how common this actually is;basically what i can only describe as feeling rathera sore in the lady garden department (sorry for the info)- but it is not sore in the sense of like thrush- its more like someone has kicked me there- even hubby has noticed it looked a tad on the swollen side in general the ither night and iv noticed it almost feeling swollen and tender for about a week now- im 36 weeks and bubba's head is down however not engaged. From time to time as baby moves (in the pelvic area) it makes the muscles in this area feel rather tender and now the groin area is begining tp throb when i walk. Iv hadpain in the pelvic area with past pregnancies, but nothing quite like this- im currently under the consulant due to having a few small babies and even the consultant has mentioned she thinks this baby will be small (ranging from around 6lb-7lb; this is small for my height and weight) so not quite sure why i would be experiencing such pain unless im gunna go into labout anytime soon- wouldnt mind but not sure i can last a further 4 weeks with this. : /

i have M/W tomorrow, this isn't something i want to bring up with her- more to the point, there is nothing i want to bring up with her apart from the lack of care she has given me throughout the pregnancy- comes to something when we cant get care from the people who are supposed to be providing it- glad to know its a common occurance for most women though- and nice to know there are others we can talk to about it, im 36 weeks and have seen my M/W on average around 4 times if that. As much use as a chocolate fireguard. Oh well guys, the joys of impending motherhood! x
Oh dear, well I've seen 4 different midwives at my appointments so I don't feel I've received the best care but I guess that's just the way it is. I've had the same one the last three times now so maybe that's it for now!! I'll ask her on Thurs hun and let you know what she says. I'm really uncomfy today! At work and just wanna go home :( xx

I did a bit of searching and found quite a few forums where people mention it. I'm just going to put my feet up for the evening and have a bath later - hope that helps as it's a bit uncomfy now after a day at work! I'm going to mention it to midwife on thurs and see what she says too but looks like it's a pretty normal occurance...yet another pregnancy delight! Woo!! xx

I had similar pains when i was about 37-38 weeks the baby had moved so low i found it hard to walk and i could feel every time he turned round, it was really weird. I asked the midwife and she told me it was normal x

Oh my god, I was just about to post on here about this!! I noticed yesterday I'm a bit 'swollen' down there - was a bit worried but was just wondering if it was the pressure of this wonderful baby! I've read about getting varicose veins in your vulva so I'm guessing it's all just to do with the pressure. It's pretty uncomfy and I'm only 34 weeks...will speak to my midwife on Thurs if it's still here or might ring tomorrow if it doesn't settle a bit. Going to do some more googling about it now!! xx
to be honest- as uncomfy as this is for us all- im just glad im not the only one who is feeling like this- its one of those things your not sure whether you should bring up on a baby forum so-to-speak but not something tht needs emergency attention if that makes sense- just nice to know that your not alone with such an agonising discomfort- mine was midly hurting this morning too hurting me even more this afternoon just to walk into the kitchen- it seems to catch me on the one side at the moment and at other times hurts all over- i feel like i have been wearing a very tight fitting harness or something for the past week or so! Let us know how you get on with your search. x

I'm 28 weeks and i look a lot further on!! Mine are throbbing a lot and do look a bit more swollen than normal. Feels like when you have a very heavy period.
now tht you mention it thts exactly how it feels- also with the paIn in the groin is similar to the pains at "time of the month" : / only thing tht makes it a tad easier is when i sit down- not bad but i cant eactly spend my entire day sat doing nothing when i have other chidlren to consider.
