A new national strategy is being introduced to reduce multiple pregnancies caused by IVF treatment. The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) is hoping that the new plan will mean that twin and triplet pregnancies would be much more rare. Multiple pregnancies can be dangerous, as twins and triplets are more at risk than single babies of being stillborn, being born prematurely or having a disability. The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence is hoping the Government will raise the number of free cycles of IVF a woman is offered from one to three. What are your thoughts? Do you think this new strategy sounds like a good idea?
