Petrified of labour

Hi. I was exactly the same as you all before i gave birth its a fear of the unknowen. Its not that bad, i did it with a tens and gas and air. The most important thing is that you remain calm, if you get hysterical you will make it worse. Also in between contractions the pain goes (it really does, i never believed people when they told me this but its true). Just find out about the different stages of labour and dont listen to people who tell you scary stories. And when your baby is handed to you the feeling you get will overcompensate for every second of discomfort you have ever felt and so much more.. Good luck to you all, please dont let your worries spoil such a special, amazing time... xx

I am 39 weeks pregnant, and although this is my third child, I am terrified of giving birth this time. Both of my other children were classed as "big babies", and each midwife & consultant I have spoken to throughout this pregnancy has told me that this is also a "good sized baby". They've told me not to expect anything smaller than my last, which was 9lb 8oz.
I got through both of the births with gas & air, and am hoping to do the same this time. I'm keeping my options open though!
Am I just worrying over nothing?

get a tens machine, find out as much as you can about the different stages of labour, get a good birthing partner- maybe a good friend as well as your partner and just try to stay calm, you can do it, the calmer you are the easier it will be. xx
Thank you. I have not heard of a Tens machine before so I will definitely look into one of those and will certainly take on board your advice! x

I am also petrified of labour and currently living in Cyprus where I will be having the birth. Everyone I have spoken to about labour always say have plenty of gas and air and you will be fine. However, I have recently found out that they do not have gas and air here. Nor do they have midwives so there isn't really a support network or anyone profesional you can turn to for advice. Can anyone here give me some advice please!
