I am resus negative and they explained to me when I asked that your first child would be fine, its after the second child where the blood could have mixed on the first birth which causes a problem. If your first baby was positive your body will be exposed to something which your body essentially sees as an outsider. therefore it could see your baby (if it is also resus positive) as being something bad, and could harm your child in worst case scenario. I would absolutely go for the shot to be totally safe personally but am not an expert - have another chat with the doc n see what they have to say, perhaps your first child was negative anyway so no probs? best wishesxxxx

Hi, i'm Camilla, i am O Rhesus Neg too and also 22 weeks pregnant, i'm having baby no.4. I would say to be on the safe side have the Anti-D it is for the sake of the babies health, when you had your first they would have given the Anti-D to you after the birth (sometimes it is not offered as it is not really needed) i have had it everytime as i want my babies to be safe.

I have set up a group on here all about Rhesus Negative Mums and it tells you more in depth about all the issues that you need to know, if you need any more advice i will be happy to help if i can, Camilla, xxx
