am i bein unreasonable?

Hunni my mum was the same very strick with me. my brother and siter but with my kids..OMG she used to spoil them rotten an tell me off for being horrible to them..I am just the same as you with my kids an let me tell u ..my eldest is 15 an his sister is 9 and everyone tells me how polite and well behaved they both are..it's a case of you can never win whatever u do..u have yr husbands support an that is what matters..cos at the end of the day when everyone else goes home u will be the one who has to deal with the bad behaviour. Hunni stick to yr guns it will pay off in yrs to come...I used to cry an feel like a wicked witch but my kids have never been in trouble with the law or at school..they do well in school and i can trust them to behave where ever we go...we go to nice resturants etc an they are as good as gold...dont get me wrong they can still squabble an argue but they dont argue with us an they have respect for our rules as we have respect for their opinions although they kno in the end when we say no..it means no..it has been very hard but I am glad we have stuck to our guns..u go girl cos u will notice when they get to school how little some parents seem to care about their childrens behaviour or how it affects others.xx

My mum got progressively less strict with each of us - I guess oldest kids always feel like they get the worst of it, my bro and sis seem to get away with murder!!!

aleast you and your husband and on the same side thats important thing. it does hurt though when your mum says you've done wrong thing. my mum aint so bad but my older sister who thinks she's an expert in al things kids coz shes got 2 of her own and used to work in childcare, is always making me paranoid bout doing right thing for lily. she reckons i'm to soft on her but i dont guess we'll have to agree to disagree. maybe you could suggest to your mum that if she disagrees with your parenting she either keeps it to herself or aleast waits for a time when your kids aren't there before telling you what she thinks so as not to undermine you? mums usually are stubborn bless 'em but you cant argue with that x x

Yeah it's amazing how mum's can hit you right where it hurts wether they mean to or not. I love my mum to bits she's brill but she had me scared the other day about having the pram in the house before the babies born and i'm not even superstitous!! Was your mum strict with you when growing up? My mum was and i'm glad for it, but you should see her with my nephew, lets him get away with everything lol, she doesn't tell my sister off though, we have to tell her off for being too soft and why wasn't she like that with us lol. stick to your guns i think your doing a fab job. it's not about being scared of you it's about boundries and respect. if your little one knows he won't get rewarded for bad behaviour then you will both benifit. if he is well behaved most of the time you are obviously doing something right. well done you.x

wow i reckon we ave the same mum lol! my mum has a wonderful knack of makin me feel like poo! shes sooooo stubborn n theres no tellin her! so i jus dont really pay her any attention wen shes tellin me im doin it all wrong! i jus fink 2 myself well ur no angel r u mum! lol xxx

well thanx i do feel alittle better now that you all support me my hubby said i did the right thing too but when ur own mum says u've done the wrong thing you start to question urself! Well just have to try n talk to my mum but shes very stubborn!!
