Hi I'm wondering if anyone is dreading telling their boss that they are pregnant, or were dreading telling them and have done it now? I basically work for a guy who runs his own small company. He's a total nightmare - bad temper, is always talking about sacking people and expects overtime all the time. I could write an essay about this guy : / Let's just say he's been taken to court a few times, once about refusing to grant paternity time off. I've only been with the company 5 months and work in a management post, so it's high stress on top of this. I'm so excited about my baby (hope all goes well) but this is playing on my mind x
I am a student social worker and I am on my placement which is basically a job till may, on the day I started I found out I was pregnant. I felt really embarrassed but in the end I told hom and he was okay about it, well to my face lol the other staff weren't pleased they were hoping for another pair of hands lol. My family have been the worst as its only been a year since my second baby and they are treating me like a silly school girl, I'm 32 married and my husband is a house husband/angel so I can complete my degree lol.
Take great pleasure in telling your boss and write down every interaction or comment in a diary given his history just keep a record in case it all turns nasty xxxxxxxxxx good luck xx
hello. i am 10weeks pregnant and only been at my job for 7weeks. didnt know i was pregnant until i was a week into the job. im a carer so sometimes got heavy lifting, being hit etc and quite worried. gotten really bad morning sickness too. theres only one person at work who knows im pregnant and as i have had 2MC recently i wont be telling work anytime soon. really worried about telling her im pregnant as i dont know how she will react. can you tell them in a letter or does it have to be face to face? xxx
Hi! First of all congratulations on your pregnancy : ) I wrote this post a while ago but I'm glad you've found it as it gives me a chance to say try not to worry x I basically told my boss on an email, as then I had proof that I'd let him know in case he discriminated against me (I could use it then for legal action) and also it gave him time to digest the news and think about his reaction to me. This worked well for me as it meant his famous temper didn't get the better of him ; ) To be honest he was great about the whole thing and even bought baby a super generous present when I left for maternity, so it goes to show that people and situations can surprise you. I'd def do a letter or email tho so you have proof if you think they are going to be funny. Have a read on the government website s and make sure you know your rights - the law is heavily on your side. I think your work should have to do a safety evaluation and give you lighter duties, but like I said have a look on the tinty. Don't let your worry spoil your pregnancy, my worry is so distant now I wonder why I ever let it bother me so much in the first place. Good luck hun xxx

My boss luckily enough is very understanding, to the point when i tell her how bad i feel with my mornign sickness she tells me not to worry about it and it passes and shares her own experiences with morning sickness. I work in a busy nursery so time of for all my appointments, scans and classes even though i am entitled to it and will get it somehow it will still be hard to get. At the end of the day she understands that i will be attending the thigns i have to and she will try to make sure i get plenty of time for it but i have to understand that there are times when it just won't be easy as i am needed due to staff shortages atm.
Just tell your boss and he can either like it or lump it! It's his problem at the end of the day if he takes the news badly.
Hi had sam problem as your having. I started my new job in the october and i was already 2weeks pregnant i did nt find out till i was almost 5weeks.
