we have 4 girls! eldest is Roisin (pronounced ro-sheen) it is irish for 'little rose', second is Cora irish again but also latin/greek)means 'maiden/young lady', third is Maia (pron. My-a) comes from Mary so means 'caring/nurturing' and we found out later is also the name of a star and Thumbelina's name (when she returned to live with the fairies in the story the prince changed her name to Maia)and youngest is Deirbhile (in english is spelt Dervla) is irish and means 'poets daughter', we also found out later it is an irish saints name! btw my mum is irish hence the irish names!
know how you feel our surname is Tongue so was a nightmare too! so we had to avoid Ruby, scarlett etc for obvious reasons- maybe you should avoid Lydia for same reason! (he he!)how about something traditional if you have an unusual surname then you can still have an unusual first name just sound it out and write it down to see what it would be like, as above example shows Lydia Binney might be cruel!? but Evan, Luca, Connor or Rhys/Reece, or Grace, Sienna or Ava. My hubby always said you have to do the 'calling them in for their tea' test, and if it sounds weird then it's to be avoided! good luck xx

hi thanks girls just all the names i like end in ie!!! so they dont go i do like lily and grace and ruby for boys we like toby, harrison and freddie xx
Ah I think Binney sounds quite cute for a surname but making it double barrelled with yours is a good suggestion from vicki288. xx
I would go for something really pretty and girly like Rose, Grace or Lily. For a boy, Ethan? My friend didn't like her boyfs name so she gave the baby hers as well so it was double barrelled. Would that work for you? x
