hi tijiburroughs my little boy does exactley that has hungary days and then hardly drinks anything, i was worried to begin with but now i just realise that that is what he wants to do he also has tired days etc which did worry me and now thay dont so much. I have just been and had him weighed and he is now 17.21/2lb whchthe midwife is happy iwht.
Thank you Ty is nearly 11 weeks and teething which is very early and at the back, he seems to get into a routine now for a few days then changes it again, (sleeping from 9pm ish to 5am and napping 20 mins after each feed in the day) i have been spooning him a little bit of farleys (my parents done the same for me and my sister) ( i was told by my health visitor that the government does not recomend this because they could have problems between the age of 40 and 50yrs) at lunchtime so it is not too heavy for his tummy and he seems to settle a bit with that. It is hard to tell what is best for him and what he wants especially now he is teething he has days where he wont eat as much and days where he will just eat and eat. The other day it was hourly feeds and he was having 5oz eachtime from 9am - 9pm for 2 days and now this weekend he is only having 4oz about 2-3 hours. i think at the moment because he is teething and having growth sperts it is just a case for being patient. I find it hard and tiring at times but some days i am ok. I give him a massage before bedtime and his last feed that helps.
hi i had a similar problem with my little boy when he was a few weeks old, he suffered from colic and it seemed to worsen in the evenings, although it is totally unrecommended and i don't want to suggest it as something to do but it worked for me, i gave my little one about a teaspoon of rusk or baby rice in the evenings alongside his last bottle before going to bed from six weeks and gradually upped the amount as he became more hungary, (my mum was recommneded it when she had me 23years ago and it worked then so she suggested it to me), it really settled him andthe colic disapperaed whether it was conincidence i don't know but i think it helped. he is now six months and eats 3 meals a day and about 1l of milk a day. At the six week appointment with my gp, i mentioned colic to him and he said he finds it can be just a baby is still hungary, another idea is to replace the last feed be it breast or milk formula with a hungrier baby milk formula which also helped me with my little one to settle him for a good sleep waking only once in the night. My health visiotr also recommneded rubbing his tummy clock wise to help the milk through his system, this helped a little. This is what i have done which seems to have helped me, although my little boy also started teething early so this kept him awake alot and now he just likes to be awakre more than asleep, he is happy and content to wake at 4 am and not have anything until breakfast but he just likes being awake. I think some babies just like to be awake, which is not good for the slepp deprived perant/s.

hi, sorry i can't offer advice but wanted to let you know we have a similar situation with our 3 week old daughter but her wakeful unsettled period is between 3 am and 6 am, some nights like tonight she hasn't slept since waking at 9pm and its now 4.30 am! we are using collisynthis granules a herbal remedy reommended by our health visitor. If you receive any tips I would be grateful if you could pass them on!
he sleeps from around 9am after feed until till 11.30 for another feed then awake till his next feed around 1.30 then feed again at 3.00 he is happy until then when he gets very grumpy so i bath or head to toe wash him around 5.30 and feed at 6.00 he is then very grumpy until i eventually get him to sleep for a little while, he is on milk for hungry babies but still is grumpy any ideas on helping him to cheer up and settle a bit between 3-8 no matter what we try he will not settle.
I know babies cry but he really does not settle around these times. We have also tried him on infacol which makes him sick and gripe water but nothing seems to help. Just started on baby gaviscon today.
