Newborn baby has a cold how do i get rid of it?

Hello :) my baby is 2 weeks old on Wednesday and has a terrible cold, sneezing, coughing really congested so he is struggling to breathe properly through his nose, i know that he is ok not turning blue or anything like that but i was wondering if anyone knew how i can make it easier for him to breathe or to try and get rid of the cold completely, i also know that he has caught it off me and i'm always catching things so now he has caught this off me so early i'm worried he is going to get everything i get :( any ideas would be great! xxx

Thanks :) been sitting him in his bouncer so his head is higher up, i had to stop breast feeding because it was so painful but i was expressing up until a couple of days ago so he was getting something i wish i could have done it for longer but i got an infection mastitus ( sorry about the spelling ) and i ended up so stressed about it i was advised to bottle feed! i've heard about the drops so i will try them too, i know that babies get ill i just did expect him to get anything so quickly but nevermind atleast it's just a cold! xxx

If you can fill the room with steam it'll help with the congestion, try filling a lot of bowls with boiling water and shut all the windows and door. Or put the shower on as hot as possible and sit in the bathroom with him for a while. Also, are you breastfeeding? as this is the best way to boost the immune system. If you're worried then get him seen by a doctor as they're really sympathetic (usually) when it comes to babies and they might have a good idea of how to help him.
