Baby sleeping with his hand over his face

Hi again, i wrote a post yesterday saying my newborn has a cold which is starting to get a little better but pretty much from the day he was born he has been sleeping with his hand over his nose and mouth which is really not good for a little baby with a cold and no matter how much i move his hand he just puts it back, i don't know if it's a comfort thing has anyone else has this problem? i'm sure it's not causing him any problems but it's making me a bit paranoid when it comes to us both going to sleep as i keep thinking he won't be able to breathe with his hand in the way!!

i think every baby does it to a degree, mine started to try and suck his thumb after a whlie but could never get the hang of it and just used to sit there with his hands at his face, we gave him a dummy in the end and he stopped with his hands around his face but i am sure yours will grow out of it xx
My baby does it too! It's the first sign that we know she is tired as her hand goes straight up over her mouth and nose! In the early days she used to poke her eyes!

my first little boy used to sleep with his hands near his face, he used to make a fist and put it next to his eye, this is how he was before he was born, after a couple of months he grew out of it. hope this puts your mind at rest.
