Nappy nightmare!

Hi, my little boy is 9 months old and has recently found his temper (much like mine was as a child i hate to admit! lol) everytime we have a nappy change or clothing change he turns into a little monster, screaming so badly you would think i was hurting him. he kicks and wriggles adn tries to get away. i almost have to pin him down to get the job done. I try to pacify him with toys etc and try my best to ignore theses tantrums and get the job finished but it is stressing me and him out, just wondering if anyone else has been through this and has any tips? any advice gratefully received! thanks xx

If your little boy has started to crawl he is finding his independence and anything which he perceives as preventing this is going to be an issue. Rather than laying him down to change him have you tried laying him on your lap so you can give a more upright feel? Sit on a low chair, spread a towel over your lap (wear a plastic apron underneath incase he decides to wee once his nappy is off – a favourite trick of many little boys), give him a toy and keep talking to him. As he is on your lap you can tilt him up or down by moving your knees which he may find more entertaining than simply lying on his back on a changing mat. It may seem awkward to begin with but persevere – it may be sufficient to break his current habit. If this is too difficult then do check that he is really comfortable on his changing mat. Do you put a muslin nappy on the mat so it is not cold for him? Try hanging some interesting items from a frame over the mat while you are changing him so so he has something to look at and distract him.

The younger child always goes underneath in the phil and teds apparently, i just thought that when the new baby is a bit more alert it may get bored looking at the back of Isaacs seat! lol, your hoping baby will have its legs crossed and im secretly hoping for a sneaky peak at the scan! Ok to add u as a friend so we can keep in touch throughout?

I am also having a completly different pregnancy this time around, had nothing at all with isaac but have had morning sickness and been really hormonal this time around (poor hubby) so have been thinking the same about this one maybe being a girl. my bump is a different shape too. ive also been really tired but am putting this down to the fact that i have a nine month old to look after this time around. were not going to find out the sex though, i love surprises! how about you? Any thoughts on double buggys? i love the first wheels city twin but am wondering whether a phil and teds would be more cost effective as you can use as a single when the older one decides to walk all the time.....dillema!
well i did say to my bf that as brooke had her legs crossed we could find out on this one but im hoping this one has its legs crossed too! yea been thinking about double buggys loads i like the first wheels too but is it going to fit through shop doors but i like the fact you can turn one to face you and the other away. the same reasons as you for the phil and ted and the fact its a tandem but i could imaging brooke trying to climb out of the bottom of it! or leaning forward and touching the floor!
