Im still at work and will be working right up until my baby is due in November, ive got to really as my work maternity is pants! - i get 6 weeks 90%, the 33 weeks stat, how are we suppose to cope of this! - really annoys me
Now im thinking do i go back to work, or stay at home....having to weigh up all the pros and cons, would we be better off if i stayed at home!
Anwyay, just wondered what anyones elses thoughts were! xx
Hi I have to go back to work as unfortunatly my boyfriend is a self employed builder while i am a chartered accountant so unfortunatly i am the main earner!!! But i am currently planning on going back 4 days a week after 7 months maternity though had to negotiate this down from 4.5days which my company originally wanted! If i could stay at home then i definitly would. Take care Nicxxx

Im the same money stops beginning of jan i have to go back april (if i go back there) They just gave me the date when i left and said you have to be back by then. Its horrible when works ar ebeing funny with you- its the last thing you want to think about.
Thats what i thought, anyhow i still aint going back to that place i call hell!! They even want to know my babies name and stuff and i think thats not there business. xx
Yes its smp i still get and thats what it works out till end of jan even so, they gave me a deadline to respond and i don't said my smp will be affected but if its goverment paid surely they can't do anything apart from pay me it till then x

I would love not to have to go back to work but my o/h doesnt earn very much at all. i did work out that i think we could get away with me not going back if my o/h didnt have any savings- how annoying is that. he says he wants be at home but i know he doesnt really- thinks our families can share childcare for free while we both work full time (me earning more then him) i dont care about money really- just want to be with my boys and watch them grow up at least till there at school etc!! it does my head in but theres nothing i can do about it! its nice to share cos he doesnt understnd at all what im feeling!
In reply to snugglepus i thought you had your 52 weeks but if you wanted to go back earlier you have to give them 8 weeks notice. you could just tell them yor not going back till may then decide then. If your just getting SMP they cant affect your money (which i guess will stop in jan the same as mine!) i dont know if that helps at all

It's just SMP that you are getting which is the local goverment contribution. This is something which I don't think has to be paid back, so good news for you in that you don't have to if you don't want to.
Hi, i just recieved a letter last week from my HR dept saying along the lines that my maternity ends at end of jan. I told themi was taking the full 52wks which takes me to may anyhow. They want to know in writting whether i shall be returning or not after jan an i have 21 days to respond otherwise my maternity is affected! I have already decided i amnot returning back to my job as its not a nice company to work 4 and they gave me noyhing but hassle whilst pregnant which resulted in a c section 5 weeks early. Does any1 have advice please??

hi, I'm kayleigh. i actually work for a charterd accountant and so i do a lot on payroll. the maternity package you have described is SMP. this DOES NOT have to be paid back. your employer receives this from the government. if you were to receive more than the 6 weeks at 90% and 33 weeks smp then you may have to pay the extra back but that depends on your employer. hope i've helped :)
Yes thanks it has, the full 52 wk's is 6 wk's 90% then 33 weeks SMP and remaining 13 wk's is unpaid so therefore it sounds like i shouldn't have to pay anytyhing back (i hope) i'll keep posted should i find out anymore.... Many thanks
