its definantly a good idea to start it now, my little boy is 18 months, and is speaking in english and nepalese (where my OH is from) if they start it as babys its stays with them forever, i would try and teach them a language that someone you know speaks aswell so they can get used to having proper conversations instead of just learning to repeat. my OH learnt english at school through teaching videos and tapes etc but when he came to england he couldnt understand what people were saying because of the accents, slang etc lol
Sounds like a good thing to start! Maybe pick a language of a country that you know you'll visit often so ske can test out her new speaking skills!
I would get private like 'lessons', going somewhere and everything rather than the DVD's or computer things. I have 2 friends that are english but can speak fluent chinese and fluent spanish (where theyre originally from), they both bought some kind of like really well known DVD and computerbits (it cost them over £800!) and they were completely cr@p! And they couldnt take them back either.
I wouldnt want to risk it really, if you get a tutor at least you know how well shes doing it and if she should carry on etc.
xxx
my little sister used to go to french classes... when she was one. until my stepmum got fed up with the other pretentious parents that is who took it bit too seriously... you've made me think bout doing something similar with my daughter when she bit older shes 20 months right now and going through her parrot phase where she repeats everything she hears (total nightmare at times- we having to be REALLY careful what we say lol) x x
my husband is from Wales originally and he puts on the Welsh Cartoons for my two in the mornings and they love watching them! trouble is I can't speak welsh and neither can my husband really so they will speak welsh and we don't be able to understand them lol!

I think it is a great idea to teach you daughter another language. The earlier the better. My friend's daughter who is the same age as your daughter speaks english and french at the moment.
That is really good to hear i know she will pick it up but i wont rush her she has always done things on her own time from crawling to talking and she does so much its amazing
My daughter is 27 mths and exreamly intelligent she can copy thing she hears from the telly so me and my partner were thinking to introduce a new language for her to learn (Spanish).
Has anyone else done this and is it to early for her to start and wait till she starts school?
