help daughter won't go to sleep at night

we have a daily routine and she has a bath at seven and then i put her in her cot at half past. but like tonight she never wants to settle down to sleep it's now been two hours of screaming and me going up and cuddling her and settling her but as soon as i put her down she screams. she never has a problem sleeping during the day. she's not screaming anymore but i can hear her talking to herself.

i had a similar problem with my daughter when she was younger. i had to stand near the cot until she went to sleep and every so often id move a little further back until she'd go to sleep while i was on the landing. it took months but worked. now shes 5 and goes to sleep without any bother.
if shes just talking to herself at the mo i would just leave her and shell eventually drop off xx
yeah thats what i do used to sit by the cot and moved further back until now where i sit on the landing when lily has a hissy fit at bed time im just outside the door where she can hear me but cant see me, so she knows im there but im not talking to her or distracting her in any way. it works for us and has been helpful since it got so light in the evenings and lil struggles to sleep at times x x

I had same problem with my daughter I tried everything but in the end just had to do the controlled crying i used to sit outside her door crying but i got used to it, i tried sleeping on her floor but that just made her worse and did me no favours it took me about a week of controlled crying go in after 5 mins lie her down then 10 mins later do the same then 20 later then 40 later then an hour and so on it really does work no matter how hard it is ut so worth it. Last night she slept 6 till half 8 this morning. have you tried reading a bedtime story and maybe having a lullaby tape or cd or something on? it will get better promise xxxx

My little girl was the same in the end i had to stop going in there cos that was making it worse, but the thing was i had a camera in her room so i could see her to make sure she was ok without going in there! but did that for a few night and then after that she went to bed without a fuss! xx
