Breast feeding / Bottle feeding How did you choose?

Hi Ladies, Your help please. Im currently 35+1 weeks. All my pregnancy I've being toying with the idea of breastfeeding. And with only a few weeks to go I'm still not decided. My mum and sister never breastfed. And I honestly know no one who has brestfed successfully. Every day I swing between being really positive and focused about the experience and then negative and not wanting to even try it. Just wondering could you give me the cold hard facts. Most books I read on breastfeeding are very one sided. So could you all if you don't mind give me your experiences of your time choosing to breast or bottle feed. Lola x

Im going to try it for a few weeks anyway. Or maybe a few days if things dont go to plan. But does anyone know if I do go to bottle feeding what formula milk is recommended.
SMA is the best baby formula out there and it a very respected well knowen brand x

im 100% behind breast feeding because - it free, you dont have to make it up it there on tap, it is more health for the baby and also u can get breast pumps so you can pump out the milk and store it. so in the middle of the night the OH can feed the baby why you sleep LOL. however, breastfeeding aint for everyone and you wont no if you like it till you have tryed it. GD luck x

Hi, I tried breastfeeding for 5 weeks but found that I had a hungry baby and I just wasnt giving him enough, found myself sitting with him for a hour and a half sometimes and I just couldnt do it. Now he is 9 months and we use SMA white. I think you can get ready made cartons/bottles of all formula milk like aptimil, cow and gate and SMA. I was pleased that I tried breastfeeding as I'd had a c-section and wasnt sure I could but it just wasnt for me after those first few weeks, but being on formula hasnt mattered :-) hes a big boy and very lively, nothing wrong with him at all xx

My midwife won't recommend a milk to me, that's hopw supportive my midwife is. I chose cow & gate because it's one of the oldest and my mum used it + you can get pre-made bottles. But it up to you to chose, there are loads on the market x

Don't want to rain on your parade but I don't believe the thing about asthma! All the people I know who have asthma were breastfed bar one, my family were all bottlefed and we're perfectly healthy (other than hayfever but I'm pretty sure that has nothing to do with it lol). So I'm not convinced about the health benefits later in life but I'm not trying to put you off or anything- just personal opinion!
I bottlefed from day one and have a perfectly healthy 2 year old. (Again, other than the hayfever lol) I just knew it was what I wanted, but if you want to give it a go, just see how it goes. Don't say no if you're not sure, you can always change your mind if it's really not working for you =]
Its not me who says it..its medically proven. :)
I agree though, that not all breastfed babies wont have asthma. I think it works on an average basis of breastfed and bottle fed babies. Obviously a higher percentage had asthma on bottlefeeding side.
I think that whatever suits the mother and baby should be done and breastfeeding is what suits me and my little 1 :)

Hi i'm 36 weeks and 100% bottle feeding, i know what you mean about it all being 1 sided but i just can't bear the thought of brest feeding, i mean thumbs up to all those mums who manage it but it's just not for me, At the end of the day your babys mum and it's down to you to decide.

When i get lectures of HV & MW i just look interested alreday got bottles & formula. I've also bought bottles to take into hospital as they aren't keen.
Hope you decide soon x
