hye i'm new too just joined today. I am 30 with 4 children aged 6, 4, 2, and 9 months (2 girls, 2 boys) so i am well used to tantrums and you might as well get used to them because once they start they're here to stay in one form or another. come to think of it when i run low on patience i might even have the odd tantrum myself! ha ha! I am currently potty training my little boy who is 2 and a half so am running in and out of the loo every 15 minutes. he constantly gets cross because he wants me to repeat everything he says but i can't always understand what he's saying so he goes mad screaming out of frustration. It's hard work but its also a lot of fun being a mum.
Hello just thought i'd say hello and introduce ourselves - i'm Natalie 26 and mummy to Charlie who is 20months - we celebrated our very first major tantrum today - i couldn't believe it and was abit flummoxed over what to do - he threw himself on the ground, would not go in his buggy and he would not walk either so i everytime he threw himself on ground (about 8 times) i left him laid there until he stood up and we proceeded a couple of steps then he would do it again! - DH Mike, just wandered ahead with buggy! - alot of use he is lol

Jack does them on a regular basis and has done for a while 'so much for terrible two's, more like terrible 15 month old!'. Don't stress at all, I actually find Jack's tantrums or 'hissy fits' as we call them, very funny. He actually watches himself in the mirror and looks at his own reaction and can play up to himself, i find it very funny and it is hard not to let him see me laughing. I just walk away from him if at home or if out I tell him once that I will talk to him when he has stopped and then ignore him completely, it usually works. I'm a parenting adviser for teenage parents in my job and I always say to them that if they are out and about and it happens to 'not be embarresed' those bystanders with kids will completely understand and either sympathise or be glad theirs have otgrown this stage; those people without kids who give you 'those' looks that make you feel like a rubbish parent can 'sod off'. When they have kids they will be shamed to think that they were so judgemental. Just laugh with Charlie as if not we'd end up getting cross all the time. My problem with Jack is that he won't leave his willy alone and constantly wets himself at nursery or in bed! it's driving me mad! he's even known as 'willy up boy' at nursery as no matter what I dress him in he manages to fiddle with it and leave it poking out of his nappy! lol (it does drive me mad though, so any helpful tips?) Thanks for the invite by the way x
