my little girl started school last september. she couldnt say her surname, its clark ( we had clock and also something a little rude). we tried everything but she couldnt say it, and rarely remembered it was her name! but within a few wks she had cracked it! i explained to her teacher on thier first day, and she was wonderful about it! x
Take a set of photos of a trip you tske together and make them into a book you can read about the family - using her surname. Introduce the little girl by her full name and show her going to the shops- or somewhere else that is very familiar. Add a doll or a teddy- and let them stay at home to watch the house. The teddy/doll and house can have the surname too. If you set out the pictures like a comic-2 across and three deep you will also help her tyo move her eyes in the directions she needs for reading English. Left to right and top to bottom. The eyemovements we need to make to read are not "natural". Different languages have different ways of reading. Top to bottom, right to left. I used to put the children's clothes out in the reading order too.

The books sound great Sarah!! I'm going to order one for Millie. She will say her surname now but it's almost as if she's too shy to say it and I think the books may help her. She loves reading and feels really proud when she can recognise words so fingers crossed this will do the trick.
Good Luck! Its done wonders for us so hope it helps you too :)
My daughter struggled with pronouncing her name when she started so I spent ages trawling the web to find a solution. I found the perfect remedy in a personalised princess book. I was able to customise the book with her first and second name so when we read the book together she had to read her full name again and again which helped her. I could also customise the her illustration which along with her name featured throughout the story. She loved reading the book so much, it was great as when she started school she could say her name with no problems. Ive used this website several times now and they've just got a new back to school book featuring your child and Peppa Pig going to playgroup which im definately going to be getting for my daughter. schools are pretty considerate they just know not all kids are at the same level etc - i mean a child who hasnt been to play school wouldnt be half as advanced as your lil one for example so wouldnt worry about a thing. any probs however samll speak to teachers they are v good usually i find anyway. good luck x

Go with the bribary too!! My little one really wanted a my little pony so we would give her 20p every time she said her surname. She soon realised if she said it she'd get the money and soon had her pony. I feel sometimes with my daughter she almost too shy to say it but with a a bit of encouragement (bribary) she'll do it!!
haha sounds like a plan.
will deffinetly try it, thanks alot :) xx
