Hi I had a consultant appointment this morning cos I have a high risk pregnancy. I am only 8 weeks pregnant but they said I have 2++ of protein in my wee. My blood pressure was fine but they are worried about the protein. What does protein in your wee mean this early on? Please help cos really worried
it is more than likely just a water infection (urine infection) as if it were a kidney infection ...trust me you'd know about it as the pain in your back would be unbearable!!! =D
i looked it up and this is what i found:
When protein is found in your urine, it can indicate that there is some sort of a problem going on with the function of your kidneys. The most common of these types of problems tends to be an infection of the kidneys. Later on in pregnancy, protein in your urine can sometimes be indicative of a condition that is known as preeclampsia. xx
protein in your urine at this stage of pregnancy can mean a number of things but mainly it shows that there is infection of somekind...particularly if there are some leukocytes in there too....it may also be a sign of gestational diabetes but this is only the case if there are high levels of glucose in there too xxx It certainly ISN'T signs of pre eclampsia at this stage so i wouldn't worry too much but if you are then ask your MW to explain =D xxx hope this helps xxx Helen xxx
