Sleeping pattern?

Hello there, I'm in a bit of a zombie mode at the moment my 8 month old son just wont sleep through. He as a new born use to do 10 hours I thought to myself this is far too easy and I think I jinxed myself!! By the time he was 4 months he started to wake 2 - 3 times a night and it has gradually become more since then now it is about 7-9 times a night. It all started because he was a very big boy 9lb 1 at birth but carried on putting on the pounds as his weight has stayed on the 98th centile I personally think he began to wake because of hunger as I am breastfeeding. But trying to stick to the 6month weaning I just used to feed on demand and now this I'm sure has developed a night time habit of needing to feed to get back to sleep. I feel guilty as it has been down to me he has developed this habit but now I now I need to change it but not sure what to do. I have a 4 year old too so it's very difficult to let him cry it out (controlled that is). But I am well and truly shattered!!!!! Any suggestions WILL be gratefully received ;-}. Thanx
