5month old cries at bedtime, tried everything!!

I have a beautiful 5 month old boy. Who is very happy and contant. Every night at 6pm I have been doing the same routine since he was 6 weeks old. Bath, dressed in a calm quiet low lit room. Bottle, wind him, cuddle and put him in his cot with his favourite blanket. I have tried everything but he will then cry for 30-60minutes every night. He wakes at 1am for a bottle, but will go straight back down to sleep afterwards without any tears. I have tried music mobiles, toys, light shows, cd's, controlled crying, background noises ( fan, static), even no noise at all. He is my second child, I also have a 3year old who waqs sleeping unaided by 10weeks. Can anyone offer any advice.

These are just suggestions from my own experiences and I am sure a HV will read in discust but here goes:

*Try a soother, Tommee Tippee do a really good one called Closer to NatureĀ® C-air Soother which is great. They do a silicone one but that used to come out of my sons mouth when he turns during the night.
*I put(pure)Chamomile teabag in his last bottle at night which is very calming, also try teabags in bath (again calming).
*Try pushing feeds back (or adding a fed)so the last feed at night is later than 6:30pm, maybe keep him busy enough and give his bedtime bottle at 9:30pm instead.
*When he turns 6 months you could move onto a follow on milk, we used Hipp Organic and found there bedtime milk really filling.
*When my son used to wake during the night we used to give soother and/or water and eventually they realise there is no point waking up if that is all they are going to get.

Hope this helps! xXx

My 5 month old cried for about 20 mins when I first left her to settle. I did the controlled crying thing and now after two weeks she settles within 5 to 10 mins. She has got used to the routine, its a killer the first two weeks but I have my sanity back now that I have an evening!! Give it a go...
