It depends on the size of the glass of wine to how quickly your system gets rid of it. 125ml takes 2hrs to my knowledge, dependant on the percentage of alcohol. I sometimes had a glass and then my baby would wake for an unexpected feed.....it's not done him any harm at all. If you think back to days gone by women were advise to drink Guinness whilst pregnant and i don't think it's had a gross effect on those babies!! You just have to be sensible about it and time it right.

I wouldnt bother at all hun and a couple of glasses are certainly not allowed before you breastfeed. But if you are adamant you are having one A glass might be ok but no more than one and it also depends on what you would want to drink.

If you’re just having a couple of drinks then it’s fine to continue breast feeding. If you are having a big night out and know you will be having lots to drink then you can either give him breast milk which you expressed before having a drink or give him formula. Expressed breast milk is the better option, but I know this isn’t always possible. After drinking try to express your milk at the same times that you would normally have fed your baby as this will keep your milk supply up and stop you from becoming engorged. Then throw the milk away. The amount of time alcohol takes to come out of your system is dependant on various things eg how much you drank, how quickly, whether you had a meal with etc. But be aware if you did have large volumes of alcohol, it could take a while to be out of your system. I’m sure you will, but just a reminder that if you are having a lot to drink, just make sure there’s someone there to look after baby for you.

I breast fed for a year and just avoided drinking, it's not worth it as the alcohol gets into your milk. I enjoyed myself just as much without drinking, you can still go out and have fun.

I don't think the odd drink now and then would do any harm, but if you were going for a night out I would express if I were you.
