Ok well i just had my second look at baby clothes in town. But am now a bit confused (it doesn't take much, especially at the moment)! Its my birthday a week on Monday and i decided seen as i'm going for my scan the same day i'd like to buy a couple of bits. We're not finding out the sex so want to buy a neutral coming home outfit. Baby won't be born till january so it'll be cold outside. So first question are bodysuits the same in summer and winter? All the ones i saw today have short sleeves so am gusssing they're basically vests with poppers and short sleeves. I'm guessing i'll need one of them under an outfit that'll obviously have long arms and legs, socks, hat, and a jacket and a blanket of course. Are booties instead of socks? Are outfits made out of warmer stuff in general in Winter as adult clothes are cos if so maybe i'll have to wait till Winter stock is in shops. Sorry i know i'm really thick but i honestly don't have a clue and want to get excited about my shopping trip! Thanks so much x
my 1st baby was a winter baby in november and I'm now due again in december so another winter one. The most valuable thing I ever bought was snow suits I had 2 in each size early baby newborn and 0-3 months and they were worth their weight in gold!! they wont be out yet because its not season, why not try eBay, things ike that go cheap in summer, I got some brand new bargains for my 1st daughter :) good luck and congratulations xxx
Thanks very much i'm a bit of an ebay addict so will defo have a look. x

I'm glad you guys have been discussing this! My daughter was born in August 2004 and we were having quite a hot summer then so when this baby comes in January I guess it'll be at the opposite end of the scale! I think I'm just going to buy basics too for now and wait til the Autumn when the shops start stocking warmer clothes to stock up on other stuff. Cant wait to buy some really cute cuddly snowsuits tho, Im getting excited just thinking about it! xx
Hee hee you and me both then! x
Glad you said that, thought i might be the only one who doesn't really know what babies wear! I'm sure i'll get the hang of it, just that i'm bursting to buy something! think i'll take people's advice though and buy some basics and wait till colder months (not that i'm wishing them upon us) to buy outfit. Thanks all. x

Thanks. Oo a snowsuit not thought of that, probably cos none in shops so out of sight out of mind and all that. Are booties just for show or are they needed over socks?
i always put them on over socks if nothing else it stops the socks frm falling off which always happens to mine, if u use a snowsuit then it's up to u if u use booties or not as the suit has the feet in anyway xx
also make sure u get a good baby record book coz some start from pregnancy which i thinks nice i know mothercare do one it has little bears on and is a neutral colour xx
