Advice please??

Hi, my partner and I decided that we would like to start trying for a baby so last month I stopped taking the pill. (I have been on the pill for 10 years). However, after stopping the pill (knowing that it was very unlikely we would concieve straight away) thought we would try anyway after using the ovulation calendar. So up until now, on the pill my periods have been regular as clock work and I expected some kind of delay but I didnt get a period at all. Then I began to experience severe lower abdominal pains, migranes and sickness throughout the day. My partner wondered if this sickeness could be morning sickness and although I hoped it was, thought that it was far too soon to be experiencing this? I did a pregnancy test anyway which came back negative. however, the pains became so bad they were making me feel even worse so I went to my doctor and explained the problem... He asked if I had ever been tested for Clamidia and as I haven't we thought it would be a good idea to do so. (He has taken a few swabs to test for other types of infection aswell) so I am currently awaiting results for those. He also asked if I would mind having an internal examination which I also said ok to, as I am keen to find out why I have the pain and where my period is!! He did tell me that I may bleed slightly after the swabs had been taken as the cervix would have been touched and this can cause a small amount of bleeding. I agreed that it was ok so he went ahead and did the internal. (No major pain or problem so just await test results now.) He asked me to do a urine sample which I did, but when I went to the toilet I was bleeding quite heavily - which I took to be my period. However after about 6 hours I stopped bleeding and there has been nothing since! Do you think it is possible that this was my period? Could it be that the test was wrong and that I could actually be pregnant? How should I work out my ovulation days from this bleed and how likely is it that I could concieve in my ovulation week for this month? My mum didn't even know when she was pregnant with me and my partners mum had severe morning sickness, migranes and stomach pains in very early pregnancy (at about 4 weeks). Please help with some advice as I am beginning to worry and quite keen to concieve as soon as possible. Thanks,

Hey..i would wait and see what your results are first hun and then go from there. x
Hey Kate,

Thanks for all the advice. I have not been on for a while as I couldn't face the site...

I have now done 3 pregnancy tests all of which have come back negative :-( I even went to the hospital for blood tests as the sickness got so bad and I was loosing so much fluid it was making me really ill... I also have not had a period since the bleed but did experience a very heavy bleed for a day after a second examination which was told may be a miscarriage.

The hospital did more blood tests after all the ones from the doctors and the bleed, still they have found nothing (other than the fact my body is very healthy - which i guess is good) but not what i want to hear!! Also another negative pregnancy test. All previous tests came back fine from the doctors and hospital except the one I wanted... a positive pregnancy test!

I then lost my job due to the sickness and being off work, so now not only have the pressure of trying to concieve but to find a new job to live and help to fund the baby when it finally happens!

I am now getting to the stage where i just want to give up trying, my partner still wants a baby and is trying to be supportive but doesnt seem to understand how i am feeling. In the last week I have been so emotional it's even worrying me and my breasts have become extremely sore! I am not due a period for another 2 weeks so not sure what the soreness is... I am desperatly hoping its a first sign and that I am finally pregnant but I think I have got to the stage where I have convinced myself it's never going to happen!

What do you suggest? Do you think I should do another test now or wait until I am due a period, see what happens and if no bleed then do another test or what? It's getting rediculous.... tests are so expensive and I feel like they are becoming part of my weekly shop! Also how reliable and useful would you rate ovulation test kits? Im thinking of buying one to just make sure i am trying at my most fertile.

Thanx...

There are so many possibilities, most of which I won't even know.

Here are some of my suggestions though.

1) PCOS causing your period to stay away
2) you are already pregnant, but it's early and the bleed was a rather heavy implantation bleed. If it's this test again about a week or a week and a half after the bleed.
3) it was a bleed as a result of the internal examination.

Your doctor will investigate this and should give you the correct advice.

Good luck hun, I hope its pregnancy
