I have a two year old son and we haven't taken him abroad before. He has grommets and I'm nervous about his ears hurting on the plane. Can anyone help with this?

Hi there Holly was 19mths last time she was ona plane and i took along a fancy drink in a bottle like a fruit shoot but it was bigger so looked more grown up like something we'd drink.I pulled it out the bag just as we were taking off and straight away she wanted it and started sucking on it-because it was in a bigger bottle it took more suction from her and it worked perfectly. A lot of airlines do hand out lollipops but the thing is unless your childs really sucking hard on it it doesnt have any effect you nead something you know theyll really suck on whether its a fancy bottle a baby bottle or a breast!!!!

You can give your son a lollypop to suck on takeoff and landing, some airlines provide these. I was lucky and breastfed my daughter until she was three and that helps or you could try a dummy if he uses one. Aparently the sucking action helps to avoid that popping sensation due to changes in air pressure. Hope this helps, Hazel x
