keeping him cool

i live in london and 2moro its expected to get to about 33 or 34 degrees but i have to go out with my 2 year old. we have playgroup in the morning and then got to go into town and then at 4 i have to go to cafcass so will be out of the house from about half 9 till half 5 in that heat. alfie is very fair and i use factor 50+ on him. i am worried about taking him out 2moro tho as he gets very sweaty and i dont know how to keep him cool and out of the sun he wont let me use a parasol. im taking lots of cold drink and im hoping to go into mothercare as they sell little battery powered fans that attatch to the pushchair so if that works then it shud help but does anyone have any other suggestions??? xx

My youngest (20 months) also refuses to wear a hat. I even bought one that ties up under her chin and she just fights with it til she rips it off!! Not sure if your pushchair has a hood but I always use the hood to keep the sun off her head and of course sun tan lotion. Perhaps try taking a flannel that you could wet with cold water to cool him down.

hi hon, cant you bribe him to have the sun shade? although fans and water keep their body temperature down, if the sun glares down on their heads too long and their heads get too hot, they are in danger of getting sunstroke. Failing that, a sun hat with the neck protector which mothercare do. I walk everywhere and teddy (although easier as he's a baby and cant speak lol) has sun hat/sun shade/cream/and wipes..he's as white as a ghost and im beginning to resemble a half cooked sausage! kids always wear their hats or i said id empty the pool and they'd have no sweets for a year :D xxx
hi he bluntly refuses to wear a hat and bribary just doesnt work with him yet ive tried every type of hat i can find but he just pulls it off or screams untill hes managed to get it off he hates it. hes such a pain lol its the first year ive let alfie in the sun at all so his skin is so white hes on factor 50 atm xxx

In a way I am quite glad of the heat. My husband is Brazilian so we will be taking the wee one over there at somepoint to meet the other side of the family. Probably going to go for her 1st Birthday in March. So I am hoping she might try and get a bit used to the heat and learn to like it! Although you can't really compare summer in Scotland to Brasil!!
